About South Side Academy

At South Side Academy you'll find a safe and secure learning environment, small class sizes, student centered instruction with free-tutoring, technology-focused classrooms, after-school programs, plus physical education and art education classes. 

We offer free breakfast and lunch, transportation to eligible students, host family programs and festivals, along with hosting more than 25 community partners and programs.

The mission of South Side Academy is to provide a safe, supportive environment in which to develop each student’s ability to reach their highest potential academically, achieve good health habits, and gain a positive understanding of social responsibility with self, others, and the community now, and in the future.

South Side Academy will involve parents and the community to enhance its useful benefits to all students.

South Side Academy students can envision themselves successfully moving forward in today’s competitive world with the strong foundation of technologically rich learning, rigorous academics with critical thinking abilities, and resilient social-emotional skills.

Ohio Community Statement

South Side Academy is a community school established under Chapter 3314 of the Revised Code. South Side Academy is a public school and students enrolled in and attending the school are required to take proficiency tests and other examinations prescribed by law. In addition, there may be other requirements for students at the school that are prescribed by law. Students who have been excused from the compulsory attendance law for the purpose of home education as defined by the Administrative Code shall no longer be excused for that purpose upon their enrollment in a community school.
